VANTAGE POINTS
-
- Perhaps the ultimate place to watch the Woolsack Races is on Gumstool Hill, along the course of the race. However, the hill is steep, and perhaps not ideal for pushchairs. But if you can position yourself on the corner of the hill, you should be able to view most of the course.
-
-
- The start of the race is at the top of the hill, at the Crown Inn. Watching from here, you will be able to see the competitors begin their race, and return to the finish looking slightly worse than when they began!
There isn't a huge amount of space at the top of the hill, so it could be a bit cramped.
-
-
- Here is the largest spectating area. You can see the bottom of the hill and the halfway line, close to the Royal Oak
pub. The Millennium Green has plenty of space, and you can always watch from the road above the halfway point, with a good view of the course.
Wherever you are, you can hear all of the races thanks to the commentary team providing all spectators with
the benefit of their expertise from their lofty position on the scaffolding and at the halfway point.
